Hell Creek 100 2026

On the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail at Wilson State Park, Hell Creek presents Kansas ultra runners with a rugged, exposed single-track test, featuring minimal tree cover. The fall race weekend, held near Sylvan Grove, provides 20-mile, 100K, 100-mile, and Pure Hell 140-mile distances. All races begin and end at the Switchgrass trailhead in the Hell Creek area. The 100-mile race involves 10,120 feet of climbing, representing the most elevation gain and loss of any 100-miler in Kansas. Runners navigate approximately 20-mile loops; one loop is used for the 20-miler, and three loops for the 100K. The Pure Hell 140 begins before the Saturday races, has a 52-hour time limit, and mandates a prior 100-mile finish for entry. The open course offers expansive views of Wilson Lake and Wilson State Park. Two percent of race entry fees are allocated to Switchgrass trail maintenance and improvement.
