Modesto Spirit of Giving 5K Run & Walk 2026

The Modesto Spirit of Giving 5K Run & Walk is an annual holiday 5K in Downtown Modesto, California. It starts at 8:30 AM, with a separate Kids Fun Run held later. The event is designed for runners and walkers, offering awards in many age groups for the 5K. A family focus is evident as groups are encouraged to participate dressed as Santa, elves, the Grinch, or other holiday characters. The event funds Modesto’s Parks and Recreation Neighborhood Scholarship Program, known as Leisure Bucks, and also benefits the Modesto Gospel Mission. Canned and non-perishable food donations for the Mission pantry earn raffle tickets and grant access to a free movie at Brenden Theaters. The untimed kids’ run is for children ages 10 and under, informally named “Help Santa give the Grinch a Heart.” Each child receives a medal, can take free photos with Santa and the Grinch, and one boy and one girl will win a bicycle via a food-donation drawing.
