About this race
The Norris Ultra Dam Hard Trail Race takes place at Norris Dam State Park and the Norris Municipal Watershed near Rocky Top, Tennessee. Participants can select between a 25 km or 50 km distance. The 25 km race follows a single loop, while the 50 km race covers the same loop twice. The course is predominantly off-road, utilizing single-track trails and jeep roads. Both races begin and conclude at the pavilion adjacent to the Tea Room within the state park.
The race enforces strict cutoffs, aligning with its name. The 25 km has a 4 hour 40 minute limit, and the 50 km has a 9 hour limit, requiring an 18-minute-per-mile pace for all participants. Additionally, 50 km runners must depart the halfway aid station within 4 hours. Aid stations provide water and support, accessible to spectators by road. Runners are advised to carry their own hydration. The event is limited to 100 participants, with finishers receiving medals. It has been a fixture in the Treadin' Trodden Trails Series since its early years, having begun in 2007.
