About this race

Titusville Middle School in Titusville, Pennsylvania, serves as the start, finish, race HQ, and an aid station for the Oil Creek 100 Trail Runs. The event takes place in October on the Gerard Hiking Trail in Oil Creek State Park, offering four distances over the weekend: 100 miles, 100K, 50K, and 25K. The 100-mile race allows 32 hours to complete 17,627 feet of climbing; the 100K has 11,026 feet of gain and a 31-hour limit; and the 50K includes 5,459 feet of gain within a 17-hour cutoff. Field sizes are limited, with target start numbers around 95 for the 100-mile race, 100 for the 100K, and 200 for the 50K. Most of the course is rugged single-track on the Gerard Hiking Trail. The 50K utilizes a loop course marked with approximately 2,000 reflective flags and hundreds of orange cones. The race incorporates the region's 1860s oil-boom history, featuring the motto “Strike oil or move on!” and strict old-school policies: no refunds, no deferments, no race-distance credit for stopping early, no entry transfers, and no pets during race weekend. Participants and pacers must be at least 18 years old; friends, family, crew, and pacers are permitted around the event. The school facilities are practical for an ultra-event: runners may tent outside by the parking lot or inside the gym, pay for post-race locker-room showers, and use several nearby parking areas, with separate options for campers and RVs.
