About this race
The Oklahoma Fallen Heroes race takes place on a September morning in Oklahoma City, starting at the OKC river trail, 4345 SW 15th St. Participants can select a half marathon, a 10K, or a 5K run/walk, accommodating both those running 13.1 miles and those walking shorter distances. This event commemorates nineteen brothers and one sister who made sacrifices after September 11th; it serves as a community tribute alongside being a running event.
The half marathon covers the full 13.1-mile distance to honor that tribute. Fallen heroes are recognized at the start, each mile marker, and the finish. Along the course, runners will see banners displaying photos and biographies of fallen warriors at 15 locations, providing names and faces to those being remembered. This is a long-standing annual event, not a sanctioned race, where charity-focused runners, local participants, and families share the same river-trail course.
