The Golden 6 Hour is a small fall ultra at Flying Horseshoe Ranch, capped at 85 runners and priced at $45. Participants spend six hours repeating the Swauk Forest Discovery Loop near Blewett Pass. The objective is straightforward: continue running and complete as many loops as possible. Registration is handled through Ultrasignup. The field is intentionally limited, creating an atmosphere more akin to a local trail gathering than a large-scale race event.
The loop was selected following an autumn scouting trip that identified larches, fall foliage, fallen trees, and dense brush on a little-maintained trail near the pass summit. The race embraces the season with a fall-themed aid station, beanies, gold or yellow attire, sparkle, and a raffle for Golden 6 Hour Territory Run Co. hoodies. Awards are presented to the runner with the most loops and the individual demonstrating the most "Golden" spirit. Early results indicate the format can still be competitive, with the top finisher completing 13 loops, a woman reaching 12, and the leading men separated by just two minutes.
