2026 U.S. National Championship

The U.S. National Championship, officially the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, is the event where American track and field athletes compete for national titles and berths to the World Championships. In the men's 100m final, held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, Kenny Bednarek won with a personal-best time of 9.79 seconds. He was followed by Courtney Lindsey in 9.82 seconds and T'Mars McCallum in 9.83 seconds. This 100m race featured a strong field, even with Noah Lyles absent as he concentrated on the 200m. Seven of the nine finalists ran under 10 seconds, including former U.S. champions Trayvon Bromell and Christian Coleman. Bednarek managed his race despite calf cramps and later signed fans' headbands, a gesture referencing his customary racing headband. The top three U.S. men in the 100m secured World Championships spots, joining Lyles. Lindsey commented on the difficulty of qualifying for the U.S. team, describing it as the hardest in the world to make, while McCallum entered the competition following his season with the University of Tennessee's NCAA team.
