About this race
Wellspring's Race for Recovery is an annual 5K in Bangor, Maine, now in its 11th running. It is organized by Wellspring, a Maine provider of substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health services for people with no or low income. Participants can run the 5K, walk it, or cheer from the sidelines.
The race is built around recovery as much as mileage. It brings the community together to celebrate people in recovery, honor those who have died, and support those still working through recovery. Wellspring's broader work includes men's and women's residential programs, a program for women with children, New Horizons Detox, and outpatient counseling, connecting the event directly to services used by local people and families.
