For the app to read speed and distance from my trainer

It would be great if the app read speed and km from the trainer so my workouts count towards my weekly km goal

  1. Hi Gilesy, so it seems it would be better for us to calculate speed/distance based on power. Since trainers donโ€™t consistently report this. We could allow people to select a profile, like ultra light, aero position which would give you the high end. MTB and overweight could be the other end. Does that make sense? I agree with your basic request. This should be easy using my approach.

  2. I think that’s the way to go. If your profile has your weight, it could be used to determine your virtual speed based on your current power (and maybe type of bike road/mtb).

  3. Now that I think about it, I think you are right. Actually just asking for weight including bike is the only question. We will assume a 1% grade for the whole thing just so it is a bit more realistic to outdoors. We will also assume riding on hoods on road bike should be good enough to get people in the ballpark or real-life. I am sure most MTB riders are happy to get a bit more than realistic distance ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. If there was a downvote button, Iโ€™d downvote this one – indoor riding is all hours and powers ๐Ÿ™‚

    Distance is only applicable outdoors (or in a simulated outdoor environment) so donโ€™t feel a requirement for it in TrainerDay ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Burning legs, I felt similar to you, we should not need it, that is why we did not add it. But, for example, Garmin basis calories on speed and distance. So if a person is tracking calories, this can be useful. People that mostly ride indoors might look at their relative distances per month in Strava or something (again I think hours is much more useful). I personally won’t use it at all. But people are different. But thanks for your support, if it gives us any trouble, I might leave it out.
