À propos de cette course
Cycling-for-Charity is a cycling day in Bensheim focused on raising money, not speed. The rides benefit individuals with neurological damage requiring rehabilitation support, organized by the SSG Bensheim cycling department with Willems on tour as a partner. Participants can select from various routes, including a 40 km family and e-bike option, longer road-bike courses, and a marathon route. GPX files will be provided shortly before the event, and guided groups will accommodate different paces.
The route options cater to road bikes, gravel bikes, beginners, hobby riders, families, and e-bikes. Road groups depart at varied speeds and distances with two guides; the fastest group targets approximately 28 km/h over routes up to 224 km. The gravel group covers about 110 km at around 19 km/h, and the family tour proceeds at 15-16 km/h. Notable past participants include former Team Telekom rider and Tour de France stage winner Jens Heppner, ultra-cyclist Constantin Backmann, and Hanka Kupfernagel, whose Olympic “Jersey of Hope” auction raised EUR 13,000. The fundraising goal is to surpass the previous record of EUR 24,300 to provide additional rehabilitation support.
