Baunatal rennt is a local running event in Baunatal, organized by the KSV Baunatal marathon department and held at the Parkstadion. The program offers runners several options: children’s and youth races, a fun relay, and main races of 5, 10, and 18 kilometers. It is a community race, not an elite-only event, where Baunatal residents and regional guests gather in summer conditions. The event has taken place for 40 years, and the club’s sustained effort has supported running in the region. A lighthearted tradition is the fun relay, which has seen city administration staff participate; some even wore shirts and ties. Mayor Henry Richter opened the event, congratulated KSV Baunatal on its anniversary, and completed an impromptu honorary lap after missing the official relay start. The day proceeded from the relay to races for younger age groups and the longer main distances, with spectators cheering along the course.
