VI 'Villanueva corre… entre Castillos' 2026

Villanueva de la Serena will once again become the meeting point for runners and cyclists on September 20th for the VI edition of 'Villanueva corre… entre Castillos'. This event combines sport, heritage, and community through a 73-kilometer route connecting three of the region's most representative fortresses: Medellín Castle, Magacela Castle, and La Encomienda Castle. The event is designed as a relay race, prioritizing group completion and enjoyment over competitive times. It features four stages: two for running, one for mountain biking, and a final stage that can be completed by either running or biking. The race starts at 6:30 AM from Medellín Castle and finishes at Quinto Coto, traversing mostly rural paths. This initiative has become a unique sporting event in the La Serena and Vegas Altas region, blending physical exercise, nature tourism, and historical heritage.
