Quebrantahuesos MTB starts over 10,000 cyclists from Sabiñánigo at 7:30 AM for a nearly 200 km loop through the Spanish and French Pyrenees. The event, now in its 25th year, is described by organizers as Spain’s toughest and most crowded cycling challenge. The 85 km Treparriscos ride runs concurrently.
The route ascends from below 400 meters to the Portalet pass at 1,794 meters before returning through the Tena Valley toward Sabiñánigo. Cyclists pass Jaca, Villanúa, Canfranc, Urdos, Bedous, Le Marieblanc, Laruns, Artouste, Formigal-Panticosa, and the Lanuza reservoir. Spectators line the Pyrenean roads, and Portalet is busy enough that vehicle traffic is halted from morning. Miguel Induráin, Abraham Olano, and Edurne Pasaban have participated. Peña Ciclista Edelweiss organizes the event.
