Trail du Mortier begins and ends at the port of Glénac, near La Gacilly in Morbihan, Brittany. This mid-June trail running event takes place on the Mortier site, offering forest routes of 8.5 km, 18 km, and 30 km. A 12 km walk is also available for those who prefer the setting without the competition. Dedicated races are provided for children and juniors, making the day suitable for local families and regular trail runners alike.
The courses navigate the Mortier area surrounding the port, leading participants through wooded terrain instead of along roads. The event anticipates over 300 participants and depends on numerous volunteers, with the Saint-Léon association contributing to its organization. Its nickname, “Le trail de la mort (ier),” references the name Mortier without suggesting the race is exclusively for experts. One past edition was postponed twice during the health crisis and subsequently canceled due to extreme heat, following medical advice regarding heatstroke risk.
