Off Te Parae Road, the course enters a rural area that offers genuine cross country running, distinct from a road race on grass. ACM Cross Country Race 2 - 2026 features a flagged route with a mass start. The approach is straightforward: line up, follow the markers, and navigate the paddocks and terrain as presented.
Course options cater to experienced runners, regular participants, novices, younger runners, and families. Optional early starts are available for those preferring extra time before the main group begins. Facilities and the post-race gathering are located at Tauweru Hall, providing toilets and morning tea. This setup fosters a club-race atmosphere, encouraging participants to socialize after the event rather than leaving immediately.
