About

Beaverfoot is a rocky, hilly trail race in Beavers Bend State Park near Broken Bow, Oklahoma, situated in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. Participants can select either an 11-mile or 22-mile option. Both distances traverse dirt single-track trails featuring roots, rocks, and sufficient climbing to make the mileage feel more substantial than it appears. The 11-mile course involves over 2,500 feet of elevation gain, while the 22-mile course includes more than 5,000 feet of climbing. The route incorporates the Beaver Creek, Lookout Mountain, Deer Crossing, and Skyline trails, with the race headquarters located at Beavers Bend State Park & Nature Center. The remote location influences logistical requirements: runners are expected to carry their own water, bring a cellphone, and use a headlamp during nighttime hours. Trekking poles are recommended for the steeper and more rugged trail sections. Support is provided at the start/finish area and at designated aid stations, including Beavers Hydration Station, Dogwood Aid Station, and Dam Hydration Station, offering water, electrolytes, hot and cold food, snacks, pickle juice, and ice along the course.
