The Tölzer Triathlon takes place annually in Sachsenkam, Bavaria, situated in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. WSV Bad Tölz is the organizing body. The event provides multiple participation options: a sprint triathlon, a short-distance triathlon, youth races, relay entries, and Jedermann categories for age-group athletes. The sprint course includes a 500 m swim, a 24.9 km bike ride, and a 5 km run. The short distance course features a 1.5 km swim, a 39.5 km bike ride, and a 9.7 km run.
The participant field primarily comprises local and regional triathletes, not exclusively elite competitors, with the short-distance individual race anticipating the largest number of entries. One short-distance category is integrated into the Landesliga series, meaning the day includes league racing alongside open starts and relay teams. The event consistently sells out, and the organizer manages a start-place exchange for those unable to compete and others seeking a spot. Digital race photos are available for purchase post-event, searchable by selfie or start number.
