The Austria Backyard Ultra in Frankenmarkt, Austria, is an open-ended backyard ultra. All runners begin the 6.706 km loop at the top of each hour. Each participant has one hour to complete the loop and return to the start. Failing to meet the cutoff or start the next lap on time means elimination. The event continues until only one runner remains able to start each lap. The Frankenmarkt race adheres to the official Backyard Ultra rules from the American original. The distance accumulates gradually: seven laps exceed a marathon, fifteen laps cover 100 km, and twenty-four laps reach 100 miles. Frankenmarkt hosted the first Austria Backyard Ultra in 2021.
