Murray Bridge Marathon Festival

The Bunyip at Sturt Reserve marks the start and finish, giving this riverfront race a local character before you settle into your pace. The Murray Bridge Marathon Festival is in its eighth year. This edition incorporates Halloween while maintaining a runner-first feel, with a morning by the Murray River, some costumes among participants, and familiar landmarks for orientation. The course follows the riverside esplanade through Sturt Reserve, Bridge Street, levee banks, and the wetlands, featuring "All the highlights of the marathon course" within the route options. A notable section is the run over the first bridge to span the Murray River, made possible by a temporary closure, before returning toward the "iconic Bunyip statue." Expect children and families around the "Monster Mash," alongside a light-hearted Halloween theme with "awards for best costumes."
