Trail des Salines is a mid-October trail race held in Céret, located in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of southern France. Participants can select from two single-loop mountain courses: La Tocade, an 8 km route with 500 m of elevation gain, and Le Trail des Salines, a 23 km route with 1,500 m of elevation gain. The shorter race is suitable for those new to trail running or seeking a demanding, concise challenge, while the longer route is intended for experienced trail runners desiring a more strenuous outing.
The courses traverse preserved natural terrain at altitude near Céret, featuring Pyrenean vistas, technical ascents, and rapid descents as their primary appeal. The event incorporates the spirited expression “Il suffit de Salinier !”, and its structure is straightforward: two distances, both loops, both emphasizing climbing over road speed. Following the race, Céret offers runners additional attractions, including the town's modern art museum and nearby destinations like the Gorges de la Fou, Collioure, and Lac de Villeneuve-de-la-Raho, all accessible for a post-race excursion.
