The Trail en Côte-Rôtie takes participants through the steep vineyard terrain above Ampuis, a commune in the Rhône department situated within the Côte-Rôtie wine appellation. This 13 km race is the shortest trail event offered, part of a larger program that includes 25 km and 46 km races, along with hiking and children's races. The day is designed to accommodate families, casual walkers, novice trail runners, and seasoned mountain runners.
The 13 km course is considered accessible in terms of length, but organizers advise caution because of the challenging terrain, which includes vineyard slopes and less-traveled paths. The overall event highlights the demanding nature of the region: the longest course spans the appellation from north to south near Ampuis, featuring a 2,500-meter elevation gain over 46 km, and holds UTMB 50K and ITRA2 designations. Aid stations and changing facilities are available, and Ampuis Sports Outdoor is the organizing body.
