The Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate 10K is a winter trail race held at Derwent Haugh Country Park in Gateshead, with a limit of 300 participants. The 10K race is primarily flat, following paved footpaths and park tracks, making it suitable for those seeking an off-road environment without challenging terrain.
The course consists of two laps, beginning and ending near the Swalwell Visitor Centre. It includes chip timing, kilometre markers, and water stations at the halfway point and the finish. Participants can use Blaydon Rugby Club for parking and facilities, with race headquarters located near the visitor centre for registration and bag drop. All finishers receive a medal, with awards for the top three male and female runners, and prizes for the leading male and female teams. UKA rules and insurance requirements prohibit the use of in-ear headphones.
