The Polish Bike Tour - Ouest 800 is a self-supported ultramarathon bike race covering approximately 800 kilometers along Poland's western border. Participants have a set time limit, must carry all their own equipment, and are not permitted any outside assistance. Consequently, the race demands as much strategic planning and sleep management as it does physical exertion. The course is designed for gravel and mountain bikes, featuring sandy coastal paths, forest roads in Western Pomerania, and more challenging trails in the southern regions of Lubusz and Lower Silesia.
The route crosses wild and historic areas of western Poland. It passes through Ujscie Warty National Park, a wetland known for its abundant birdlife. In Lubusz, Poland's most forested province, riders will navigate extensive stretches of dense pine forest, with lakes interspersed among the trees. Participants determine their own overnight strategy, opting for a hammock, a farm stay, or continuing to ride, as weather and exhaustion become integral elements of the competition.
