Śląski Maraton Noworoczny is a New Year's running event held in Park Śląski in Chorzów, Silesia's largest park. Rather than a single set distance, participants run an approximately 7-kilometer loop, with a six-hour window to complete their desired distance, whether a short run, a marathon, or further.
The format allows for a flexible day, enabling individuals with various objectives to use the same course. This event has been organized for 18 years and is now managed by Stowarzyszenie W Kręgu Natury. Its underlying principle is straightforward and deeply rooted in Polish tradition: “as the new year, so the whole year,” emphasizing the value of starting January with physical activity.
