The December Ice Scraper 5K is a free, no-frills winter race starting at 10:00 a.m. from the LVRR Clubhouse in Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania. Check-in is before the race, and entry is handled online only; no race-day registration is available. The event is open to runners age 10 and up, with a 60-minute limit corresponding to approximately a 19:35 mile pace.
The course is an accurately measured, mostly flat 5K on cinder trail and paved surfaces within the Parkway. Organizers may reroute runners to main roads if ice makes the usual path unsafe. The series has been held annually since 2013, attracting local runners undeterred by fog, snow, rain, or cold gray weather. No awards are given, but results are posted on the LVRR website. Post-race amenities include fire pits, hot chocolate, and snacks.
