The Pareto FM Shrewsbury Half Marathon & Metric Half Marathon is a road race held in late September, starting at The West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury. Participants can select the standard half marathon (13.1 miles) or a metric half marathon (8.14 miles). The half marathon begins first, followed shortly by the metric race. This UKA licensed, chip-timed event uses a measured route, appealing to those aiming for a specific time and those seeking a well-organized town race.
The course begins and ends at the showground, passing through notable Shrewsbury locations such as the Welsh Bridge, English Bridge, Kingsland, Porthill, Coleham, The Quarry, and Frankwell. It also crosses the town centre, where medieval architecture and distinctive street names contribute to the race's local character. Pacers are available for various target times, official race photos are complimentary, and all finishers receive refreshments and a custom metal medal. Entrants have the option to receive a technical race T-shirt (available in men's or ladies' fit) or to plant a tree instead of taking the shirt.
