Lastest Not Fastest is a last-person-standing trail race on Hamilton Island, beside North Bonneville, Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge. It takes place in October, with runners starting the same 4.13-mile loop each hour until only one person remains. The format suggests a modest pace on paper: each loop averages about 14:32 per mile, but the clock runs continuously. The loop features mostly flat trails, with approximately 103 feet of elevation gain and a maximum altitude near 150 feet. Completing a loop in 40 minutes allows 19 minutes for rest; finishing in 50 minutes grants 9 minutes; exceeding 60 minutes results in disqualification. The Hamilton Island course provides space for support crews and allows runners access to their vehicles between loops, a benefit that increases as the race progresses. The event benefits the Trail Mix Fund, an organization dedicated to removing obstacles in trail racing.
