Bird Dog Breakaway

Bird Dog Breakaway is a community 5K in Waynesboro, Georgia, held at Waynesboro City Park. The race day includes multiple distances: a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, a Derby Dash Kids Race, and a Pup Trot Toddler Race for ages 1 to 5. An Adaptive Walk is available for participants of all abilities, aligning with the race’s connection to local special-needs services. The series has run for at least 18 years and supports the Center for New Beginnings, which serves children and adolescents with special needs in Waynesboro, Evans, and Millen. The Center provides ABA therapy for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and assists over 100 children and families. Race proceeds fund the Center’s operations, including facility needs at the Millen Clinic. The event also features a Kidzone, craft and food vendors, a raffle, corporate team entries, and school cross country teams, giving it the feel of a local fundraiser with races.
