O wyścigu
The Altmühltal-Panoramaweg Ultra Trail begins at Treuchtlingen train station and covers 47 kilometers to Eichstätt for experienced trail runners, featuring 1,660 meters of elevation gain. This point-to-point race follows predominantly natural trails in Bavaria’s Altmühl valley, with train access at both the start and finish. The initial section is gentle and flat alongside the Altmühl river, offering a brief warm-up before the first significant ascent.
Following this, the course's pace varies: it includes steep ascents, sharp descents, and more moderate sections crossing the hillsides. Runners will pass through shaded mixed beech forests and over juniper heaths. The route offers views of Pappenheim Castle, the Twelve Apostles rock formation near Solnhofen, the quarry region and Gailach valley around Mörnsheim, and the Burgsteinfelsen near Dollnstein. A GPX file is provided for navigation, and the Naturpark Altmühltal information center is the point of contact for further information.
