Media Maratón la Montaña Solidaria is a mountain half marathon near Madrid, set around San Lorenzo del Escorial, featuring a demanding ascent of Pico Tres Provincias. It is part of an annual FEMAD/SEMED solidarity race circuit, organized by the Fundación Española de Montañismo y Deporte Adaptado and the Sociedad Española de Montañismo y Escalada para Discapacitados. This is not a flat city half; the recorded uphill gain is 1,541 meters, making sustained mountain running the primary challenge over road speed.
The course enters the mountains, ascending toward Pico Tres Provincias, a summit named for its geographical location. The event is also known as Media Maratón de Montaña Solidaria de Madrid and Carrera Solidaria de las Dehesas, reflecting its connection to the broader charity-race program by the same organizations. Previous editions attracted approximately 200 runners and 20 volunteers, with entry fees supporting specific projects: education for children in earthquake-affected regions of Ecuador, sanitation reconstruction in Nepal, and adapted sports in natural environments within Spain.
