The Pawling 24 Hour Trail Running Festival features timed trail races at Lakeside Park in Pawling, New York. Runners complete laps on a 1.68-mile loop for the duration of their chosen race. Options cater to various levels of ultra running experience: 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours (day or night), and a full 24 hours. The loop includes pavement, grass, and single-track trail, with approximately 160 feet of elevation gain per circuit, meaning even shorter races accumulate significant mileage. This is a cupless event; participants must provide their own bottle, cup, or flask for hydration at aid stations.
The race area is set up practically and compactly on a grass field adjacent to the loop, serving as the athlete and crew zone. Spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Runners must cross the timing mat before accessing their personal setup. Restrooms are available in an indoor building near the course, alongside an aid station offering standard ultra fare like water, soda, Skratch and UCAN products, bagels, fruit, candy, and Athletic Brewing. Pacers are not permitted. Support for 24-hour runners is restricted to a maximum of three laps, leaving most of the race for self-management. All finishers receive a medal, with top male and female finishers in each race category earning awards. A belt buckle is awarded to any runner achieving 100 miles or more.
