Ragnar Trail Florida is an end-of-season Ragnar relay held at Alafia River State Park, located approximately 30 miles southeast of Tampa. Standard teams consist of 8 runners completing the course over 2 days and 1 night. Ultra teams have 4 runners following the same overnight format. A 3-runner sprint option is also available on the same weekend. The full relay covers 126.4 miles, with each runner on a standard team averaging about 15.8 miles.
The course features three single-track trail loops winding through palm trees, giant ferns, hardwood forest, shaded pines, equestrian paths, sandy areas, and short, rolling hills. Alafia is situated near sea level, yet the complete route accumulates 5,248 feet of elevation gain, averaging roughly 656 feet per runner on a standard team. The race village serves as both a campsite and a handoff point. Runners have adopted an unofficial holiday theme for the weekend, leading to decorated trees and Santa costumes appearing on the trails.
