O tomto preteku
The TCS Sydney Marathon begins in North Sydney, sending a large field across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to finish before the Sydney Opera House. Held annually, it is Australasia's largest marathon and now ranks among the sport's major city marathons in the Abbott World Marathon Majors. The event holds a World Athletics Platinum Label, with course records of 2:06:18 for men and 2:21:41 for women.
The route incorporates Sydney landmarks: the Harbour Bridge early on, The Rocks and Circular Quay by the harbour, Centennial Park later, and the Opera House at the finish. Its origins trace back to the Sydney Olympic Games, and it remains the sole mass-participation event from that Olympic program. Participation is possible via ballot, elite invitation, or Australian Championship standards. The race week attracts club runners, novice marathoners, accomplished national athletes, and an estimated 125,000 spectators.
