O tomto preteku
Bieg Czerwca 56 is a memorial running event in Poznań, held in connection with the Poznań June 1956 workers’ protest. Runners can choose 5 km or 10 km, and the program also includes a Memory Relay, family races, and children’s races. It is not just a road race with a historical name: the event uses factory grounds tied to the protest and links the day’s competition with support for veterans.
The route runs through the former Hipolit Cegielski Works, the Volkswagen Foundry area, and the Rolling Stock Factory, all in the industrial part of Poznań where the workers’ protest began. The start and finish sit near a mural commemorating Poznań June ’56, and the organizer works with the Museum of Poznań June ’56. The field is broad enough for individual runners, relay teams, families, and children, while the course keeps the history physically close instead of treating it as background.
