Hauernløpet/ultra

HauernUltra is a 57 km trail race in Drammen, Norway, run on a Saturday starting from Spiralen in Drammensmarka. The race follows the Hauernløpet course three times, meaning runners repeat a 19 km loop rather than completing a point-to-point course. First held in 2020, the race is designed as a self-supported ultra. Runners must carry their own food and drink. A covered depot at the finish area allows them to leave supplies and refill water between laps. The loop begins on gravel at Spiralen and ascends quickly before transitioning to trail towards Stronghytta. It continues past Årkvisla and Panteguten, climbs steadily to Tverken, and heads back towards Spiralen via Landfallhytta and Villåsen, featuring challenging uphill sections late in the lap. The route consists of approximately 75 percent trail and 25 percent gravel, with about 550 meters of elevation gain per lap. Runners must complete the first lap by 10:30 and the second by 13:00. Anyone starting the third lap by 13:00 is permitted to finish. Three aid stations are present on the course, but they are staffed only while the 18 km Hauernløpet participants are still on the course, so ultra runners cannot depend on them for the entire race.
