The Duxford Dash is a flat 5K and 10K race held at IWM Duxford, the Imperial War Museum’s airfield in Cambridgeshire. Runners use chip timing, collect their bibs at the event, and receive live results when the connection permits, with confirmed results sent to pre-registered entrants within 24 hours. This race is suitable for beginners, those seeking a personal best, wheelchair users, and individuals running with buggies or strollers. There are no pacers, no entry on the day, and headphones are prohibited for safety reasons. A Family Mile for children and parents concludes before the main races, allowing families to participate in the morning without joining the 5K and 10K starts.
The setting provides a unique backdrop: runners pass aircraft positioned on the flightline, with historic planes nearby and a Spitfire photo opportunity at the finish. Water stations are located around 2.5K and 7.5K on the 5K and 10K courses. The event village offers toilets, medical support, a bag drop, and an event PA system, but no changing rooms or showers. Top finishers may win prizes, all participants receive a medal, and free race photography will be available online after the event. Spectators need to register, but their ticket grants museum entry for the remainder of the day, enabling cheers at the finish to extend into a full visit to IWM Duxford.
