The Polish Independence Run begins at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. Runners and walkers depart at 11:11 a.m., a time chosen to honor Poland’s independence anniversary. The event features a 10K run and a 5K run/walk, suitable for competitive runners, families, and those seeking to participate in the commemoration. WPNA 103.1 FM, Polish American Mix, is the organizer. This run has taken place annually in Chicago since 2018, continuing a long-standing Polish tradition of commemorating independence through athletic events.
The course is USATF-certified and chip-timed, tracing the Lake Michigan shoreline from Montrose Harbor. All participants who complete the race will receive a medal and an event T-shirt. Following the run, a communal lunch is provided. The race welcomes participants of all ages, contributing to its atmosphere as a community gathering rather than solely a competitive race.
