Challenge Esprit Montréal directs triathletes into Parc Jean-Drapeau, utilizing the Olympic Basin for the swim and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for the bike. The event takes place in September in Montréal, offering multiple distances from Junior Challenge events to middle distance triathlon. This allows children, sprint racers, standard-distance athletes, and longer-course competitors to use the same venue.
The swim occurs in the 1976 Olympic rowing basin. The bike leg proceeds on paved, closed roads around the Formula 1 circuit. The run follows the St Lawrence seaway, with city views. The course is flat, designed for consistent racing, with typical conditions including 16°C air temperature, 18°C water temperature, and 14 kph wind. The series has over 55 years of history. Spectators can move between viewing points instead of remaining at one finish area.
