The Spendenmarathon in Reutlingen is a charity lap run held on the Keppler-Gymnasium race track. For four hours, from 11 AM to 3 PM, runners circle the track, raising money one lap at a time, with each completed lap intended to bring in one euro. The event has reached its 25th edition and runs under the patronage of Reutlingen Mayor Thomas Keck. The format is straightforward: participants either donate for their own laps or arrange a sponsor to cover them. The Reutlingen donation parliament also has sponsors ready to step in for people who want to run but cannot pay the donation themselves. The money goes to projects across the district that fight exclusion, poverty, and isolation, especially projects that would otherwise miss out on funding.
