Sonnewalder Schlosspark-Gravel is a new gravel cycling event in Sonnewalde, a town in the Lausitz region of eastern Germany. It takes place in July and offers riders four route options: 3.5, 30, 55, and 110 kilometers, accommodating children, casual riders, experienced gravel cyclists, and those seeking a long day on mixed surfaces.
The notable feature is the passage through Sonnewalde’s historic castle gate and into the Schlosspark. The routes also incorporate the old town, forest sections, and open heath landscapes surrounding Sonnewalde. Approximately 130 riders participated in the first edition, and the local nature of the event is such that the mayor intends to ride as well.
