Om dette løb
The Oderturmlauf challenges participants to ascend 511 stairs within the Oderturm in Frankfurt an der Oder, Brandenburg's tallest structure. This tower stair race occurs annually near the end of August, commencing around 10 AM with staggered starts every 90 seconds. The objective is straightforward: reach the summit of the 24-story tower in the shortest time.
The race covers the entire ascent of the historic Oderturm and is included in the Deutscher Towerrunning Cup, attracting both regional participants and athletes competing for cup standings. While fields are smaller than in road races, the competition is often intense. One past event saw 62 finishers, and previous champions include Johannes Gabbert, a specialist who achieved his 11th victory in the men's category. Leading times are currently around three minutes, indicating the demanding nature of the climb from the initial steps to the final ones.
