Om dette løb
Runners complete the Marshall University Marathon by carrying a football down the field and over the goal line at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, West Virginia. The race weekend features a certified 26.2-mile road marathon, a half marathon, and a 3.25-mile run/walk. The main races begin early in the morning, with the shorter event starting shortly after. It is the largest marathon in West Virginia. The flat, fast course is designed for runners aiming for a Boston qualifying time and for those seeking a college-town race with a distinctive stadium finish.
Each distance follows a single-loop road course, passing through Huntington, alongside the Ohio River, and through local parks. Marathoners have the option to place a flower at the Marshall University Memorial Fountain, connecting the race to the university’s history and its football culture. Marco, Marshall’s mascot, is present at the event. Parking is conveniently located near the start and finish areas. The post-race refreshments include hamburgers, beer, and other items. Participants can range from serious marathoners and half marathoners to walkers in the 3.25-mile event, Marshall fans, and families using the shorter distance to participate together.
