5K RP Run is a road race in Praia Grande, on the São Paulo coast, based on Avenida Castelo Branco in Parque Nova Mirim. It is scheduled for late August, starts from 7:00 AM, and uses wave starts by age category. The main race is a 5 km event for general runners and elite fields, with a 3 km option for sports teams and coaching groups, plus a chip-timed walk. The event is capped at 1,000 athletes, and the race window is 1 hour 30 minutes.
The course is measured by CBAt, and the organizers pitch the 5 km as a fast race for runners chasing times. Elite runners have prize money available, with larger bonuses attached to a Brazilian record. The 3 km option includes a VO2 test with official timing, which gives team runners something more specific than a standard short fun run. Every participant must donate 1 kg of food, excluding salt, and the kit includes a bib, timing chip, shirt, and medal; the bib has to be fixed to the front of the shirt.
