Kahnawake’s Backyard Ultra - The Meltdown 2026

Kahnawake’s Backyard Ultra - The Meltdown takes place at Kahnawake Marina in Kahnawake, Quebec. Participants run a 6.7 km loop starting at the top of each hour, continuing until a single runner remains. This is the event’s second running, offering a cash prize for the victor and a walk option for those who wish to participate without the full last-person-standing commitment. The course begins and ends at the marina. The challenge focuses on managing time, recovery, nutrition, and fatigue rather than route complexity. A basic aid station provides water and necessities, but participants and their crews must supply their own rest areas, including seating, shelters, coolers, and food. Headlamps are recommended for anyone still running after dark. Music plays near the start area, and proceeds benefit Tetewatatia’takéhnhahs / Purple Ribbon Walk alongside event expenses.
