La Radikal is an open-water swimming festival on the Costa Brava, located between Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell. It takes place over an October weekend and includes several distances: 7.0 km, 3.5 km, 2.0 km, children’s swims, 4x600 m relays, and a Last Standing event. The 7.0 km swim defines the series: swimmers start at Port Bo beach in Calella de Palafrugell, swim along the coast, turn towards the Illes Formigues, and finish in Llafranc.
The 7.0 km course begins with approximately 2.5 km near the shore to Cap de Planes, then proceeds 1 km out to sea towards the Formigues before a final 3.5 km open-water leg to Llafranc. The course is marked by numerous buoys with helium balloons, and support includes over 30 kayaks, 20 boats, and Radikal Angel Swimmers. The 3.5 km swim follows a shorter out-and-back route from Llafranc towards Calella de Palafrugell and back. Sunday features the children’s races, relays, village activities, and the event's onshore atmosphere.
