The Media Legua Playa de Burriana is a short summer running race held on Burriana Beach in Nerja, starting at 7:00 PM in late August. It takes place on the sand, attracting both local runners and visitors, giving it the feel of a community beach race instead of a closed club event.
The race has completed over thirty editions and includes a local tribute, honoring Francisco Ortega Olalla, known as “Ayo.” He was Nerja's first athlete and a key figure in promoting sports in the town. Club Nerja de Atletismo organizes the event with Nerja’s town council, and Ayo’s family participates.
