Travesía Internacional Bocaina is a 15 km open-water swim between two Canary Islands, starting at Playa Dorada on Lanzarote and finishing in Corralejo on Fuerteventura. It usually starts early in the morning and draws roughly 80 to 100 swimmers, with young and adult competitors sharing the same crossing.
The race sends swimmers across the Bocaina Strait; the simple idea is also the hard part: leave one island by beach start and reach the next under your own power. The field is international, with swimmers from countries such as Germany, England, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Ireland, and Australia, and the event also notes strong female participation. It has run for more than twenty editions, with local Yaiza officials, the race director, and tourism partners involved in its public presentation.
