Über dieses Rennen
Figatellu o Pane Seccu is a winter mountain race held in Ghisoni, a village in Corsica. Its name serves as the joke at the finish line: figatellu sausage for finishers, dry bread for those who do not. The course is approximately 9 to 10 kilometers around the village, designed for accessibility over technicality. It uses a clock but no rankings. Entries are limited to 250 participants and registration is online only. The race begins on the Place du Monument aux Morts.
The route is kept secret, with organizers stating it will be neither too difficult nor too simple. The time limit is revealed shortly before the start. Marshals guide runners along the course. The event attracts local participants, supporters lining the route, and spectators drawn by the midwinter village atmosphere as much as the race itself. The broader Course de l’Oriente is in its 20th edition, making it one of Corsica’s established mountain races. The Ghisoni Oriente team has maintained the event despite logistical challenges, including a fire and power issues that occurred shortly before race day.
