Half du Lac d'Annecy is a Half Ironman-distance triathlon held in June at Doussard beach, located at the southern end of Lake Annecy in Haute-Savoie. Competitors swim 1.9 km in Lake Annecy, cycle 90 km, and complete a 21.1 km run, with the Alps nearby and Annecy, known as the “Venice of the Alps,” 17 km north.
The race village and start are situated on the beach at Doussard, beginning right by the water. The swim takes place in Lake Annecy, noted locally as Europe’s purest lake, and the run route follows the surrounding countryside above the lake. Team Mermillod Triathlon organizes the event with local volunteers. A tradition of the race is a large post-race buffet for all participants, featuring bread, salmon, smoked ham, reblochon cheese, salad, tabbouleh, organic yogurt, and fruit.
