About
The Trail du petit Saint-Paulien is a small trail race held in Saint-Paul-le-Jeune, an old village in southern Ardèche comprising a main village and several hamlets. The primary race covers 15 km with 400 m of elevation gain. The event also includes a 5 km race with 100 m of elevation gain and a 5 km hike with a donation-based entry fee.
The race routes traverse the countryside situated between the Monts d’Ardèche regional natural park and the Cévennes national park. Here, limestone and sandstone soils converge along a geological fault. This geological split shapes the route's distinct character: white oaks, junipers, and olive trees characterize the Mediterranean-influenced terrain, while maritime pines, chestnut trees, and strawberry trees are found nearer to the Cévennes forest. The Union Sportive de Saint-Paul-le-Jeune organizes the event, with Ludo Chalvet identified as club president in local reports.
